Kabul, Afghanistan (CNN) — Taliban militants beheaded two children in southern Afghanistan, a provincial governor’s office said.
The beheadings occurred in Kandahar province, the provincial governor’s office said Monday.
One of those slain was a 10-year-old boy. The other was age 16.
A press release issued by the office said the militants caught and beheaded the 10-year-old Sunday after he had collected food waste from a trash bin in the area of a security checkpoint.
There were no immediate details about the 16-year-old.
The Taliban has not commented on the report.

The Treasury, which initially held 60.8 percent of GM as part of the U.S. $49.5 billion bailout, now owns just 16.4 percent, or 241.7 million shares. In December, the Treasury sold GM 200 million shares of its stake for $5.5 billion to reduce its stake to 300 million shares.

In total, Treasury has recouped $30.6 billion. At current trading prices, Treasury would lose around $10 billion on its GM bailout.

Excerpts of the 11th issue of Inspire magazine, al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula’s propaganda rag, has leaked to the web, and focus extensively on the April 15 bombing of the Boston Marathon.

According to the Middle East Media Research Institute, which monitors jihadi web forums, the latest issue leaked when Yemeni journalist Abd al-Razzaq Al-Jamal posted excerpts of the issue to his Facebook page. The images of the issue were provided to The Cable by MEMRI.

Abu Dhabi: A Saudi writer has urged his Twitter followers to sexually molest women hired to work as cashiers in big grocery stores, the latest backlash from conservatives who want to roll back limited social and economic reforms launched in Saudi Arabia.

Abdullah Mohammad Al Dawood, who writes self-help books including one called The Joy of Talking, has stirred fierce debate this week via the internet microblogging service with the use of the hashtag harass_female_cashiers, to press for Saudi women to be forced to stay at home to protect their chastity.

His campaign against official moves to encourage women to work in mixed gender environments has led some Twitter users to denounce him. Others however applauded him as a fighter against government efforts to westernise and corrupt the country.
